Inviting caregivers and roles
How to invite a partner, a nanny or grandparents with a code, a QR code or a link, and what each role can do.
One diary for the whole family
Everyone you invite sees the same diary of every child in the family — also the entries from before they joined — and every entry shows who saved it. Sharing needs an account: the person inviting and the person joining each have their own.
Inviting someone
- Open More → Settings → Caregivers → Invite a caregiver.
- Choose who they will be (the role, below) and, for a caregiver or a view-only person, whether their access ends on a chosen day.
- Tap Create an invitation. Then either show them the QR code or the 6-character code — valid for 15 minutes — or tap Send the invitation link, valid for 7 days.
The person you invite types the code in More → Join a family, scans the QR code, or opens the link and creates an account or signs in. An invitation you no longer need can be cancelled under Pending.
The free version covers one child and one caregiver: to invite a second person, the family needs Premium or its 7-day trial — see Premium and the trial.
Roles
- Owner — manages the family: invites, removes caregivers and changes roles. A family has exactly one.
- Parent — adds and edits all entries and can invite caregivers.
- Caregiver — adds and edits only their own entries.
- View only — sees everything, saves nothing.
A caregiver's or a view-only person's access can end on a day you choose: after that day it ends by itself and the family is told.
Leaving, removing, handing over
- Leave the family — your entries stay with the others, but you lose access to them. The owner first hands ownership to someone else (Hand over ownership…), because a family always has one owner.
- Remove from family — the person loses access; their entries stay. A removed parent gets an e-mail offering a copy of their data (CSV, valid for 30 days).
- Entries saved by someone who left or deleted their account stay in the diary, marked as a deleted caregiver.
